NEW DELHI (India): TRAU FC’s Bidyashagar Singh became the first Indian footballer to score a double hat-trick in consecutive matches against Mohammedan Sporting and Real Kashmir FC in Hero I-League.
The 22-year-old achieved this feat within a space of five days.
Bidyashagar climbed up to the top of the scorer’s charts with 11 goals in the tournament.
He also managed to get his name in a few more records. Apart from being the first Indian to score consecutive hat-tricks, he also became the second Indian to score two hat-tricks in a season.
“I would like to thank my teammates very much. I have scored 11 goals this season, but it is due to all the 11 players that are on the pitch, that I am able to do so. They have shown that trust in me, and pass me the ball in positions from where I can score, and that trust is what has helped me grow over the course of this season,” Bidyashagar told AIFF.com.
The only other Indian to achieve this record was Jeje Lalpekhlua (Pailan Arrows) in 2010-11 season.
