DOHA: Asian champions Qatar will kick off their Copa America campaign against Peru on June 14, the organisers said on Monday.
The tournament will be held in Argentina and Colombia from June 12 to July 12 as Qatar also set for their second appearance.
Japan also represented Asia in the tournament last year while Australia will join Qatar at the 2020 showpiece.
Qatar have been grouped with Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru in Group B. In Group A, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay will do battle.
Al Annabi will play five matches starting with Peru (June 14), Ecuador (June 18), Brazil (June 23, Venezuela (June 28) and Columbia (July 1).
According to the new system of the tournament, the first four teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals.
QFA, Cameroon FF sign Memorandum of Collaboration
The Qatar Football Association (QFA) signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with Cameroonian Football Federation (CFF) delegation on Sunday.
At the signing ceremony, QFA was represented by Vice-President Saud al Mohannadi while Acting President Seydou Mbombouo Njoya of CFF was the signatory from the visiting delegation.
QFA Secretary-General Mansoor al Ansari was also present.
QFA and CFF have agreed to develop football in both countries, plan exchange programmes for youth teams and fix dates for matches between the senior squads. Sunday’s agreement signing has come as a follow-up for both parties agreeing to develop the game at a large scale.
