Barcelona: Atletico Madrid staged a dramatic comeback to secure a thrilling 4-4 draw against Barcelona in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final on Tuesday.
Atletico stunned the hosts early, racing to a two-goal lead as Julian Alvarez struck in the opening minute, followed by Antoine Griezmann’s goal in the fifth. However, Barcelona responded swiftly, with Pedri scoring in the 19th minute and Pau Cubarsí netting the equalizer just two minutes later.
The home side then took the lead before halftime, as Iñigo Martínez headed in from a corner in the 41st minute.
Barcelona seized control of the match, extending their lead to 4-2 when Robert Lewandowski tapped in from close range after brilliant individual play by Lamine Yamal in the 74th minute.
However, any hopes of taking a two-goal cushion into the second leg were dashed as Atletico mounted a late comeback. Marcos Llorente pulled one back in the 84th minute, and Alexander Sorloth struck on the counter in the third minute of stoppage time, ensuring a dramatic 4-4 draw. The tie remains wide open ahead of the return leg in Madrid on April 2.
