DOHA (Qatar): Costa Rica fought back to hold Asian champions Qatar 1-1 in a friendly match at the BSFZ Arena in Maria Enzersdorf, near Vienna on Friday.
Hassan Al Haidous had scored from the spot in the 42nd minute, but Joel Campbell equalised in the 67th minute.
Costa Rica was looking for a victory after two shameful home defeats against Panama.
“Qatar has grown a lot, they are organized, they like to attack and both technically and tactically they are very good,” said right-back Cristian Gamboa.
Qatar are scheduled to play South Korea on November 17. The Asian Cup winners had lost to Ghana 1-5 in their previous friendly.
