NEW DELHI (India): Sudeva Moonlight FC will be the first and only club to play in I-League from Delhi in the upcoming league season after the AIFF gave its nod on Wednesday.
Football Delhi thanked AIFF for Sudeva FC bid and granting them a direct entry to the league.
Sudeva FC was earlier known as Moonlight FC, the current management of the club took control of the club in 2016.
Moonlight has been part of Delhi football since 1960s and have won the local league on a few occasions.
“It’s indeed a red letter day in the history of football in Delhi that a grand old club from Delhi will be part of I-League. The significance of this one decision by AIFF is going to be immense in changing the face of football in the Capital,” said Football Delhi President Shaji Prabhakaran.
“We also take this opportunity to thank AIFF for granting Sudeva FC the opportunity to be a part of I-League.”
