DOHA (Qatar): Qatar Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani participated on Tuesday morning in the activities of the Qatar National Sport Day (NSD) along with citizens and residents of the country.
Qatar marked the NSD for the ninth consecutive year, where all segments of Qatari society gather to practise different types of sports.
Sheikh Tamim carried out walking and jogging exercise in Lusail Promenade with a number of world champions, Olympic athletes, a number of Qatari Women’s Sports Committee players and Aspire Academy students.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani also took part in the activities of the Ministry of Interior, organized by Qatar Police Sports Federation.
Sheikh Khalid participated in football that was held at the Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar Sport Club, with a number of senior officials and employees of the Ministry of Interior.
He also participated in a number of different sport activities that were held at the stadium on this occasion, with a number of people with special needs.
Qatar’s interest in sports was manifested at its best in the unprecedented initiative in the region and the world launched by the wise leadership in 2011 when an Amiri Decree stating the second Tuesday in February each year to be the National Sports Day and an official holiday, to ensure a wide participation and consolidate the cultures of sports and health lifestyle.
