DOHA: Former Cameroon and Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o will be the star guest during this week’s Generation Amazing Instagram Live session.
The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) ambassador will talk about using sporting values in times of adversity on Wednesday, May 13, at 8pm Doha time (GMT+3) on Generation Amazing’s @GA4Good channel.
Eto’o, a three-times UEFA Champions League winner, will share details about how he is keeping fit and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. He will also discuss his illustrious football career, which included stints in La Liga, Serie A and the Premier League, along with success on the international stage with Cameroon.
Eto’o became an SC ambassador while playing for Qatar Sports Club in the Qatar Stars League. In 2019, he led Generation Amazing’s ‘What Has Football Taught You?’ social media campaign, which showcased the key life skills which can be learned through football.
In recent years, Eto’o has become renowned for his work off the pitch. He served as a United Nations International Children’s Education Fund Goodwill Ambassador for Cameroon in 2017 and launched the Samuel Eto’o Foundation, which builds football schools across Africa to provide sporting facilities and help young people further their education.
Moza al Mohannadi, Marketing & Communications Director at Generation Amazing, said: “It’s a great honour to welcome Samuel Eto’o to our Instagram Live chats. We share a common mission to positively impact communities, provide sustainable sporting facilities and achieve our goals of improving integration, inclusion and equality through football.”
Eto’o is the latest football star to take part in the Generation Amazing Instagram Live series and follows Xavi Hernandez, Cafu and Tim Cahill.
The sessions have been watched by more than 80,000 people across the world as Generation Amazing continues to provide content for its audiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. A number of Generation Amazing partners have taken part in the sessions, including AS Roma, KAS Eupen and the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
This week’s schedule has so far featured a workout with Generation Amazing’s master coach, Michael Richardson, as well as an exclusive chat with former former Argentina, AC Milan and Chelsea striker, Hernan Crespo.
