DOHA (Qatar): Five players including one staff of Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia) besides one player from Al Duhail have tested positive following Covid-19 tests on Saturday, the AFC said.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in close coordination with Qatar medical authorities, conducted the tests on all participating teams in the AFC Champions League (West) on their arrival.
The competition is scheduled to start from Monday with all the four group matches in four different venues.
The centralised fixtures will take place across four air-conditioned venues Khalifa International Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium, Education City Stadium and Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.
All the appropriate medical care and support is being given to the two teams and those who tested positive are under medical supervision in a quarantined environment as required by the safety measures and COVID-19 protocols put in place for the tournament.
Movement of all players and officials will be limited to the hotel, stadium and training sites, as part of a ‘medical bubble’.
All players and officials are required to undergo testing before their departure from their respective countries and again upon their arrival in Qatar, with subsequent tests will be conducted every three to six days.
