GLASGOW: AFC Asian Cup-winning head coach Ange Postecoglou has been named the new manager of Scottish giants Celtic.
The Australian, who steered the Socceroos to the continental title on home soil in 2015, replaces Neil Lennon at the helm of the Glasgow club as they look to reclaim the Scottish Premier League title lost to bitter rivals Rangers last season.
Postecoglou leaves Yokohama F Marinos after leading the club to the J.League title in 2019, the first time in 15 years the team had been crowned Japanese champions.
“Celtic is one of THE names in world football, of that there is no doubt – a giant of a club, a proper footballing institution and so much more – real history, real substance, real authenticity and real soul,” Postecoglou told Celtic’s official website.
