DOHA: Former England women’s footballer Lianne Sanderson will appear on this week’s Generation Amazing Instagram Live.
Sanderson, who turned out for Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus, will discuss key learnings from her career at both club and international level on @GA4good at 4 PM on Wednesday.
She will also talk about gender equality – one of the core values of Generation Amazing, which is a FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 legacy programme.
Sanderson won an array of titles with Arsenal, including the FA Women’s Premier League and the UEFA Women’s Cup.
With Juventus, Sanderson won Serie A and the Coppa Italia title. The forward also won 50 caps for England and represented her country at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2007 and 2015, along with the UEFA Women’s Championships in 2009.
Moza Al Mohannadi, Generation Amazing’s Marketing & Communications Director, said: “We are very excited to host women’s football star Lianne Sanderson.
Her impressive number of accolades is inspiring and we can’t wait to hear more about these achievements, as well as discuss an important issue for us, gender equality, which Lianne is a strong advocate for.”
More than 130,000 people have tuned in to the Generation Amazing Instagram Live sessions over the past four months.
Last week’s guests included former Argentina, Barcelona and Liverpool star Javier Mascherano, and former Netherlands striker Pierre van Hooijdonk.
Mascherano spoke extensively about youth development and the importance of teamwork, while van Hooijdonk encouraged youngsters to stay active during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
In addition to the star chats, Generation Amazing Master Coach, Hamad Mohamed, got young audiences moving last week during a paper plate tennis challenge with the help of Qatar Children’s Museum.
Later this week, Generation Amazing will host a webinar in collaboration with Josoor Institute and the University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) at 3 PM on July 23.
The session will discuss inclusion and supporting youth through football during the pandemic. Speakers will include Dr Fadi Makki, from Qatar 2022 legacy programme B4Development, Sharona Friedman, from UCFB, AS Roma’s Paul Rogers and Eglantina Zingg, from Goleadoras.
The event will be moderated by Professor Simon Chadwick. Members of the public are invited to watch the webinar.
