KOZHIKODE (India): Gokulam Kerala face Kerala Blasters in a high-octane opening match of the Kerala Premier League at EMS Corporation Stadium here on Sunday.
Both the teams will field their reserve squads in the state’s premier competition.
The Malabarians are in the Group ‘A’ along with Blasters, Golden Thread FC, Kovalam FC and Luca Soccer FC. GKFC goalkeeper Satyajit Bordoloi will captain the team against Blasters.
Gokulam’s reserve team has already won two trophies – Independence Day Cup and Bodousa Cup in Assam. They had also reached the quarterfinal of Sikkim Gold Cup and the final of the Mayor’s Cup held in Thiruvananthapuram.
“We have a good team. We won two prestigious tournaments in pre-season, and hope we would be able to start on a winning note,” said Bino George, Gokulam Kerala technical director.
The entry for the match is free.
After the first match, Gokulam face Kovalam in away match on December 23 and followed by another away match against Luca FC on December 20.
The Malabarians face Golden Thread FC in their next home match on January 11.
