DOHA (Qatar): Qatar’s Rashid Saleh Hamad stayed on course for an Olympic quota after he won a bronze in the skeet event at the ISSF Egypt World Cup for shotgun in Cairo on Thursday night.
Rashid finished with a score of 41 in the final round, behind first-placed Ukraine’s Mikola Milchev with 53 and second-placed Denmark’s Jesper Hansen with 52.
The two-time Olympian, who represented Qatar at the 2008 and 2016 Games, had an impressive performance and will look forward to the next ISSF event in New Delhi, India, next month.
“I’m very happy with my performance. But I’ll have to wait till next World Cup in India next month for my Olympic quota chances,” he told Khel Updates from Cairo.
Rashid had won a gold in the shotgun event in Rabat Grand Prix early this month and has been in good nick in the local competitions that included gold and silver besides a fourth-place finish at the Amir Cup and Qatar Shooting Association Cups.
