The FIG Council has chosen by email vote to entrust the Israel Gymnastics Federation with hosting the event.
DOHA: The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has awarded 2024 Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships to Holon (Israel) following by email vote.
The competition will be held in May 2024 at the Holon Toto Arena, a sport and entertainment venue inaugurated in 2015 in Peres park. The championships will be preceded by the World Age Group Competitions.
FIG President Morinari Watanabe said, “In these troubled times, we are glad to have good news to share. Acrobatic is a captivating discipline, and we can only be delighted when a federation is ready to welcome an event of this level for the first time.”
For the Israel Gymnastics Federation, it will undeniably be a first, as the country has never hosted a World Championships in any Gymnastics discipline.
“Israel will make sure this event will be an unforgettable experience. We have successfully hosted Rhythmic Gymnastics and Acrobatic Gymnastics European Championships in the past years, and so we are more than ready to host the next big competition,” the Israel Gymnastics Federation was quoted by FIG website.
“We will do our absolute utmost to justify the trust that was given to us by the FIG and the Gymnastics family. Acrobatic Gymnastics is a thriving and ever-growing discipline in Israel, and we are looking forward to bring the highest level of competition to our country,” the federation added.
The 2022 Worlds will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, in March 2022.
The biennial event held in even-numbered years, the Acrobatic World Championships were scheduled to be run at the end of May this year in Geneva (Switzerland), but the coronavirus pandemic has forced their postponement. (Source: FIG)
