DOHA (Qatar): Qatar’s Hamad Al Sahouti will be at the starting grid of 2021 Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup (IATC) in the season opening races from March 26 to 28 at Losail International Circuit, according to a report on the IATC website.
The 2021 IATC season will begin with two races during the Grand Prix of Qatar, part of the 2021 FIM MotoGP World Championship season.
However, Round 2 of the IATC will coincide with the recently-announced Grand Prix of Doha, which takes place from April 2 to 4.
The Qatari will be the 21st full-time competitor, with eight countries represented by the permanent and reserve riders in the 2021 Cup: Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Qatar, Thailand and Turkey.
Al Sahouti started riding bikes as a hobby at the age of 6, until joining the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation training at Losail International Circuit in the 2016-2017 season and joined the first training camp in Spain in 2018.
He was among the first riders to join Qatar Motorsports Academy when it was established in 2019 and achieved the first position in his first-ever race with the academy, and he also ranked the first in the karting race.
Al Sahouti has gained lot of exposures over a period of time having participated in several international championships, including the Spanish Superbike Championship (ESBK) in the 2018-2019 season and also participated in the training camp in Spain which was under the organization of the academy and earned the title of the season after winning the 1st position in 3 races in its first edition with the academy
He has completed his training at the Qatar Motor Sports Academy and joined the Aspire Academy and was last season crowned as the winner in the first ever edition of Supersport 300 class as part of the Qatar SuperStock Championship 2019-2020 season.
The IATC round set to take place at Sepang International Circuit alongside the Malaysia Superbike Championship is therefore now a reserve round.
