DUBAI (UAE): India kept their hopes of reaching the ICC T20 World Cup semifinals alive with a convincing eight-wicket win over Scotland at the Dubai International Stadium here on Friday evening.
The victory was earned in the nick of time, and in a flash in the presence of around 17,000 Indian expat fans.
After back to back defeats against Pakistan and New Zealand, India produced a superb bowling display to dismiss Scotland for 85.
Ravindra Jadeja, who was adjudged man of the match, and Mohammed Shami both finished with figures of three for 15 while Jasprit Bumrah (two for 10) and Ravichandran Ashwin (one for 29) also impressed with the ball.
Openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma scored 50 and 30 respectively before Suryakumar Yadav hit the winning runs as India reached their target with eight wickets and 81 balls to spare.
Earlier, India won the toss and put Scotland in to bat as the 2007 champions looked to better net run-rate in their bid to overhaul New Zealand for second spot.
