CALCUTTA (India): The Indian Cricket Association (ICA) has zeroed on three cities Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru for their office.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) second Apex Council meeting last Sunday approved a budget of Rs 2 crore on an ad-hoc basis to ICA.
“Our aim is to open an office in any one of these three cities,” ICA president Ashok Malhotra told Khel Updates on Tuesday.
But most likely considering the low-expenses and maintenance, Calcutta will be the automatic choice for ICA.
“We have already started searching,” added Malhotra.
The former India player also thanked the BCCI for the monetary help.
“We are pleased to receive this grant from BCCI. We had already received 50 lakh. But we cannot have an office in expensive cities like Mumbai,” he said.
The ICA had their council meeting last Monday where it was discussed on the procedures for giving pensions to the ex-cricketers and who can avail the health insurance.
On Sunday, the BCCI’s apex council body said that a revised presentation needs to be made before release of future funds to ICA.
“As of now the board has approved a budget of Rs 2 crore on an ad-hoc basis. Out of this, around Rs 50 lakh was already given to the ICA during elections and the initial setting up. So, a further Rs 1.5 lakh will be released now. But the ICA needs to make a fresh presentation after which the rest of the funds will be released,” the member clarified.
