DOHA (Qatar): India’s top-ranked squash player Saurav Ghosal will face unheralded compatriot Mahesh Mangaonkar in his opening fixture at the PSA Men’s World Championship here.
The competition will be held at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex from November 8 to 15.
Ghosal, who became the first Indian male to crack into the elite list of top-10 players in the world, will have to overcome a tough field.
Top players lineup for honour
The $335,000 total prize purse tournament is featuring a total of 64 players, including the 56 highest ranked players and eight wild card entrants.
Defending champion and world No.1 Ali Farag will square up against unseeded Raphael Kandra of Germany while second-seed Mohamed ElShorbagy will face compatriot Karim El Hammamy in the opening rounds.
“The draw is a clear indication of the excitements and the highly entertaining encounters to be expected. We’re more than ready to host the stars in Doha,” said Tournament Director Tareq Zainal.
