DOHA: Iran’s national team coach Amir Ghalenoei is aware of the difficulties that awaits his team against Syria at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in the round of 16 of AFC Asian Cup tomorrow.
Iran reached the round of 16 after topping Group 3 with 9 points from three winnings over Palestine 4-1, over Hong Kong 1-0, and over the UAE 2-1.
In his statement during the press conference ahead of the match, Ghalenoei said that tomorrow’s match would be difficult and that Iran should play with caution to avoid making mistakes that might cost them exit from the tournament.
He pointed out that Syria have developed recently, and the digital statistics during their three matches were clear evidence of that.
Iran’s coach added that he asked the players to perform the instructions and show offensive effectiveness. He said that they are familiar with Hector Cuper’s style from the teams he coached in previous periods.
