DOHA (Qatar): Three-time Olympian Vanessa Ferrari will hope to book a ticket for the Tokyo Olympics when she competes at the women’s Floor Exercise final at the 13th FIG Artistic Apparatus World Cup here on Saturday afternoon.
The Italian had topped the qualification chart with 13.600 points, but given her sea of experience she will eventually end up as the winner.
Zsofia Kovacs (HUN), who finished second in qualifier, Brazil’s Lorrane Oliveira, Ukrainian duo Diana Varinska and Anastasiia Bachynska, Jana Mahmoud (EGY) are the other competitors.
In the men’s parallel bars final, Turkey’s reigning European champion Ferhat Arican will be up against compatriot Ahmet Onder, who finished second in the qualification.
Ferhat collected an impressive 15.200 points in the qualification while Onder had 14.766.
Doha is the eighth and final stop on the 2018-2021 FIG Apparatus World Cup series, where some of the top-ranked gymnasts will have one last chance to book their places at the Games.
Two Brazilians and as many Spaniards also made the cut in the parallel bars.
Caio Souza, who will also contest in the Rings final, and Francisco Barretto Junior made the grade.
Spanish duo Nestor Abad and Nicolau Mir also ensured their presence in the final with some excellent efforts.
