PANJIM (Goa): ATK Mohun Bagan head coach Antonio Habas said positivity mentality helped his side beat traditional rivals East Bengal 3-1 in the Kolkata derby on a neutral venue in the Indian Super League on Friday.
Goals from Roy Krishna, David Williams and Javier Hernandez give ATK Mohun Bagan a deserving victory in the second Kolkata derby of ISL.
East Bengal pulled one back through a Tiri own goal but that was not enough for Robbie Fowler’s side to salvage anything from this fixture.
“I’m very proud of my players. It’s about the positivity in the side. Five wins in a row is not easy. I’m not thinking about the Shield yet but it’s good to be on top of the table. Again, the Kolkata derby is the biggest football match of the country,” said Habas.
He singled out goal scorers Krishna and David Williams in Bagan’s win.
“Roy Krishna is a special player. David Williams complements him well. We have another game against Hyderabad FC in two days. So we need to move on from this and keep executing our plan to perfection,” added Habas.
ATKMB moves five points clear at the top of the 2020-21 ISL standings with 39 points from 18 outings while East Bengal stays ninth with 17 points from the same number of matches.
