DOHA (Qatar): Liverpool landed in Doha on Sunday morning ahead of their semifinal match against Monterrey in FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 on Wednesday.
The Premier League side, who secured qualification by winning the UEFA Champions League, will face Monterrey (December 18) at Khalifa International Stadium.
The FIFA Club World Cup is one of the few trophies not in the Anfield cabinet, and the team will be well supported in their efforts to change this.
A large contingent of Liverpool fans have arrived here and the club enjoys a significant fanbase amongst local Qataris and expatriates.
“This competition gives the squad the opportunity to achieve something new, the chance to win Liverpool’s first ever Club World Cup,” said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
“It’s been a busy but incredible year. We will give everything to wrap-up 2019 with this title. We followed the matches yesterday. We’re looking forward to playing Monterrey with the support of all the Liverpool fans,” added the German.
Should Liverpool win, they will play either CONMEBOL Libertadores winners CR Flamengo or Al Hilal FC in the final.
Tickets for the FIFA Club World Cup are currently available via FIFA.com/tickets, including to Liverpool’s first match on December 18.
