DOHA (Qatar): Valkenswaard United clinched the first leg of the Longines Global Champions League (GCL) at the Longines Arena in Al Shaqab here on Saturday.
The comprising Olympic medallists Peder Fredricson on Hansson WL (Sweden) and Germany’s Marcus Ehning astride Stargold took the lead in the first round on Thursday.
They continued with their good work in the second round to claim the top place, with the duo had a combined time of 143.62 seconds.
The Shanghai Swans with Christian Ahlmann on Dominator 2000 Z and Max Kuhner on Elektric Blue P finished second. The German pair were both able to jump a clear round and clocked off a combined time of 145.22 seconds.
The Berlin Eagles with Christian Kukuk riding Mumbai and Philipp Weishaupt in the saddle with Asathir came third with the German riders clocked a combined time of 150.06.
On Thursday, Berlin Eagles were behind the leaders Valkenswaard United but slipped to third.
New York Empire, who were third with time of 134.2 in the first round, finished an overall fourth followed by Monaco Aces.
Doha Falcons took the sixth position in the team event in which saw 15 teams competing in two rounds spread over three days.
