DOHA: Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Alsharbatly, astride Quisandro, claimed top honors in the Big Tour at the 9th round of the 8th season of the prestigious Qatar Equestrian Tour – Longines Hathab. The event, hosted at the Longines Arena, Al Shaqab, saw elite equestrian talent compete in a series of high-stakes challenges on Saturday night.
Faisal Al Naimi topped in the Amateur category while, Faris Al Qahtani won the Medium one in the ninth round.
Alsharbatly delivered a flawless routine in the 1.5m class jump-off, clocking an impressive 34.79 seconds to secure the top spot and a prize of QR25,000. Cyrine Cherif, riding Triple T Calamando Blue, was the only other rider to qualify for the jump-off, finishing second with a time of 37.75 seconds. Khaled Mohammed Al Emadi, aboard Kryptonite, claimed third place despite four penalty points, finishing in 64.51 seconds. The top three were honored by Ali bin Yousef Al Rumaihi, a member of the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s Board of Directors.
In the Open Round, Hussein Saeed Haidan took first place aboard Fayahibi with a time of 50.03 seconds. Khaled Al Hadi, riding Capion, secured second place in 53.46 seconds, while Mohammed Yousef Al Jaber and Lisa Perina finished third in 55.32 seconds. The winners were crowned by His Excellency Ambassador Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Nasser and Omar Al-Buainain, Director of the Support Services Sector.
The dressage events showcased emerging talent, with Maryam Khalid Al-Muraikhi and Ahmed Al-Hussein Al-Thani sharing first place in the preliminary test with 66.579 points. Afra Abdulrahman Al-Sulaiti followed in second (60.527 points), while Moza Hamza Al-Kuwari secured third (56.974 points). In the second preliminary test, Abdullah Khalid Al-Jalandani topped the rankings with 68.349 points, followed by Dana Omar Al-Emadi (67.188) and Humayan Al-Kuwari (60.625). Saud Ahmed Al-Buainain triumphed in another dressage category with 66.806 points.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Nouh Al Thani, Chairman of the Hathab Organizing Committee, praised the tournament’s success, emphasizing its role in elevating the skills of Qatari riders and preparing them for international competitions.
