DOHA (Qatar): Qatar’s Rashid Hamad shared the lead with Spain’s Juan Jose Aramburu after first day’s Skeet event at the ISSF Grand Prix Shotgun Morocco in Rabat on Saturday.
The two-time Olympian missed one target clay pigeon in the first and repeated in the next but got better in the third with a perfect score, shooting down all the 25 targets to be on 73.
Juan had identical scores (24+24+25) like Rashid in each of the three rounds.
Jose Maria Mielgo Moneo, also of Spain, was in second place having missed three targets (72), Russians Demin Sergey and Nikolay Pilshchikov to be in the third spot followed by UAE’s Saif Bin Futais.
Other Qatari shooters in the skeet event Ali Ahmed Al Ishaq (19+24+25) and Mohammed Ahmed Al Kuwari (24+21+23) missed seven targets while Hassen Ali Al Mannai failed to shoot down eight targets (21+22+24).
The shooters will compete in two more rounds on Sunday followed by the medal round in which top ten shooters will qualify.
