CALCUTTA (India): Ugandan international Musa Mudde will lead Mohammedan Sporting in the 2nd Division League, the club said in a statement on Wednesday.
Goalkeeper Priyant Singh will be the vice-captain in the tournament that starts on January 25.
Mohammedan, who face Bhawanipore FC on Saturday, has won just one title in the season — Sikkim Governor’s Gold Cup — but coach Saheed Ramon would be hoping for a positive start.
“As we said at the end of Calcutta Football League, the rebuilding process for the 2nd Division League and beyond is aimed at ensuring that we restore this iconic institution to where it rightfully belongs – at the summit of Indian football.” said club’s general secretary Mohammad Qamaruddin.
“Our supporters have always carried the club and continue to do so. They demonstrated by filling up the stadium during Calcutta Football League. We hope to see more full stadiums this season.” he added.
