DOHA (Qatar): Germany’s world no.8 Simon Rosner thanked Qatar Classic organisers for the excellent arrangements for the participants at the PSA Tour event.
The competition will begin on Sunday with several top stars in the fray including Egypt’s Ali Farag.
“It is always a great tournament (Qatar Classic). Very pleasant to be in Qatar. People (organizers) are looking so much after you,” said Rosner, who won a bronze at the 2019-20 World Championships held in the Qatari capital.
“Little things taken care of, which make a lot of difference, that is why all the players love to come to Qatar. Everything is taken care of.”
The 32-year-old German broke the Top 10 in the PSA World Rankings for the first time in November 2014, and subsequently reached a world ranking of No. 6 that equaled compatriot Sabine Schone’s career-high world ranking of No. 6 in June 2015.
He broke into the world Top 5 in June 2018 and Top 3 in December 2018 making him the highest ever ranked German player.
Currently ranked eighth, the German said that he doesn’t want to set any goals for world rankings as he wants to enjoy the sport before he retires after a couple of years.
“I’m gonna be 33 on November 5. So hopefully I’m still in the tournament. I might have another 2-3 years. Then I will see how my future will be like. I want to share my experience with the younger generation.
I am having last 2-3 years on the Tour. I wouldn’t say, kind of hungry enough anymore. I am trying to enjoy my game. I’m not looking at the points or rankings. I want to give off the best. At the same time, I want to enjoy it. I don’t set myself as number one as a goal. I want to enjoy as I don’t like to look at the numbers anymore,” added Rosner.
