DOHA (Qatar): Al Ahli Sports Club overcame reigning Qatar League champions Police to win the Qatar Cup at the Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA) Hall at Al Arabi Indoor Hall on Friday.
Al Ahli, who won 22-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-19, received a winner’s cheque of QR300,000 while Police took home QR200,000 for their efforts.
Earlier, Al Ahli defeated Al-Arabi 3-2 (17-25, 25-21, 23-25, 31-30, and 18-16) to make it to the final while Police got the better of Qatar SC.
The Qatar Cup matches are held according to strict procedures by QVA and adhere to the precautionary measures in place by MoPH to limit the spread of Covid-19 and all the teams underwent a medical swab test.
The QVA said only players, technical and administrative staff, support staff accompanying the two teams were permitted to enter the QVA Hall, and of them had undergone a medical examination for COVID-19.
Only four top ranked teams from Qatar Volleyball League are allowed to take part in the Qatar Cup thus Police, Al Ahli, Al Arab, and Qatar SC took part in the tournament.
