DOHA (Qatar): Qatar players selected for the summer training camp for the joint World Cup/Asian Cup qualifiers in October-November underwent their coronavirus testing on Friday.
Coach Felix Sanchez and support staff also were tested at the Al Aziziya Botique Hotel in Aspire Zone, where the squad is staying.
Sanchez had selected a a squad of 34 players to prepare the team for the remaining qualifiers against India, Bangladesh and Oman.
The Qatar Football Association had said the players and the coaching staff would strictly adhere to medical protocols outlined by Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) during the camp which will end on July 3.
The players will then return to their Qatar Stars League clubs for the resumption of the league competition on July 24.
Covid-19 tests conducted on QSL clubs
Covid-19 tests were conducted on Al Sadd, Al Gharafa, Al Khor, Al Rayyan, Qatar SC and Al Wakrah players here at the Ali bin Hamad Al Attiyah Stadium on Saturday.
After completion of tests, they would return to their homes under self-quarantine until the test results come, taking into account the health and safety of everyone.
In the event of a positive case, the player will undergo the procedures of Ministry of Public Health.
If the test result is negative, he will join the team at their hotel as per schedule.
The general plan and protocol has been developed by the Qatar Stars League in co-operation with the Ministry of Public Health and Aspetar hospital.
