DOHA (Qatar): The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy remains on track to deliver all eight stadiums for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 well ahead of schedule.
Khalifa International Stadium was the first tournament venue to open following an extensive redevelopment in 2017. Al Janoub Stadium was the first venue to be built from scratch when it opened in May 2019.
Three more stadiums are set to be completed by the end of 2020: Al Bayt and Al Rayyan, and the third tournament-ready venue for Qatar 2022 in Education City. The remaining venues will be delivered well in advance of the tournament, which will kick off on 21 November 2022.

Khalifa International Stadium
Following an extensive redevelopment, the stadium re-opened on 19 May 2017 when it hosted the Amir Cup final. During 2019, the stadium hosted the IAAF World Athletics Championships, along with matches during both the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup and FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019
Stadium boasts a strong hosting history, including the 2006 Asian Games, FIFA World Youth Championship Qatar 1995 and Asian Football Confederation competitions.
Al Janoub Stadium:
Stadium opened on 16 May 2019 when it hosted the Amir Cup final.
During 2019, the stadium hosted matches during the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup
Education City Stadium
Stadium completion to be officially announced on 15 June 2020
Building works completed
Installation of stadium envelope, seats, arch finishes and roof structure completed
Mechanical, engineering and plumbing works completed
Testing and commissioning almost completed
Al Rayyan Stadium
Installation of roof standing seam/roof membrane and windscreen completed

Inspections from local authorities arranged for stadium, energy centre and precinct areas

Lusail Stadium
Installation of superstructure, precast units and roof compression ring completed
De-propping of roof compression ring completed
Installation of golden triangular façade is 21% complete
Mechanical, electrical and plumbing works 52% complete
Stadium pitch development is 21% complete
Installation of spectator seats has commenced
Interior and exterior works are 40% complete
Infrastructure works are 45% complete
Ras Abu Aboud Stadium:
All structural foundations are completed
Underground utilities are 71% complete
Fabrication of the steel structure is 95% complete and the development of the bowl steel is 50% complete
Overall container fabrication progress is 97% complete
The total container scope is 973, of which 949 are completed and delivered to site. 505 containers have already been installed at the stadium
Al Thumama Stadium
Roof truss and cabling works completed
Roof membrane installation of 680 panels completed
Façade membrane installation completed in all 40 bays
Bleacher installation completed
Installation of seating is 56% complete
Mechanical, engineering and plumbing works are 73% complete
Finishing work 53% complete
