DOHA: Reigning Asian champions Qatar has decided to submit their bid to host 2027 AFC Asian Cup, the Qatar Olympic Committee confirmed on Monday.
China will host the next edition in 2023.
The QOC President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani has confirmed that Qatar has applied to host the continental competition for a third time after 1988 and 2011.
Qatar’s bid to host the Asian Championship is based on its strong stadium and travel infrastructure with the tournament coming after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Qatar are currently the reigning Asian champions having lifted the trophy in 2019 in the UAE.
Jordan Football Association and its Iraqi counterpart announced their plans to submit a joint bid last December.
In a statement, the Jordan Football Association said via its Twitter account that hosting the AFC cup is a “great pride” for the two associations.
The statement added that the association is studying and looking forward to work and jointly cooperate with its counterpart in Iraq to submit a joint bid to organize and host the 2027 edition of the continental championship.
President of Iraq Football Association Abdul Khaleq Masoud confirmed that an agreement was reached between the Iraqi and Jordanian associations to submit a joint bid to request to host the Asian Cup in 2027
