MUSCAT (Oman): The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Swimming organizing committee decided to delay tournaments scheduled for 2020 to 2021, as a result Qatar will host the 28th Aquatics Championships next August.
The committee indicated that the 16th swimming championship in the short course will be held next February, provided that the 18th open water swimming championship will be held in October 2021.
The GCC Swimming organizing committee had held a meeting through visual communication headed by Chairman of Oman Swimming Association (OSA) and Chairman of the Arab Swimming Taha bin Sulaiman Al Kashari with the participation of members of the committee, including Secretary General of the Swimming Federation Talal Mubarak Al Darwish.
The meeting discussed several topics on the agenda where the participants ratified the minutes of the previous meeting number 65 which was held on September 7, 2019.
The committee also discussed its program and activities for the year 2021, as it was agreed to transfer the tournaments scheduled for 2020 to be held in 2021.
Furthermore, during the meeting, letters received by the committee from the General Secretariat and the member Gulf federations were reviewed, and Muhammad Al Sahili, in charge of the work of the technical expert at the Oman Swimming Association, was chosen to be the technical coordinator for the organizing committee.
