DOHA: Qatar Stars League (QSL) clubs Al Shahaniya, Al Sailiya, Umm Salal and Al Ahli clubs underwent the second round of Covid-19 tests and blood samples were taken for laboratory analysis after completing a period of 14 days in hotel as per the general plan and protocol ahead of the resumption of 2019-20 season.
Defending champions Al Sadd, coached by Barcelona great Xavi Hernandez, will continue the process on Sunday as QSL gets ready to resume the season which was closed in March due to the pandemic.
The players and also the technical and administrative staff will also undergo tests at the team hotel, in co-operation with the Ministry of Public Health and Aspetar hospital.
The squad had earlier undergone the first tests last week, and will now await the green signal to restart routine training, once the results of the second tests are revealed. Training will then be held on a daily basis at the club’s training centre, along with daily observation, and also medical tests every week.
On Saturday, the first team squad held their training in two groups as per the protocol for the current phase. Head coach Xavi Hernandez was keen to focus on physical preparation, before moving on to practicing with the ball – all while keeping a distance between the players during their movement.
The testing process continues according to the schedule and date of entry of each team to the hotel, where they must have completed 14 days before the second round of tests.
This comes as a prelude to the players leaving the internal camp, which is considered a quarantine for all as part of the protocol preparations to return to the QSL resumption on July 24.
