Doha: Andrey Rublev secured his second Qatar ExxonMobil Open title on Saturday, overcoming Britain’s Jack Draper 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 in a hard-fought final.
The fifth-seeded Russian fired 34 winners, including 10 aces, to claim his 17th ATP Tour title and his first since last May’s Madrid Masters.
Rublev, who previously lifted the Doha trophy in 2020, dominated on serve, winning 78.9% (45/57) of first-serve points and saving two of three break opportunities.
Despite the loss, Draper is set to achieve a career-high ATP ranking of No. 12 on Monday, while Rublev will climb to No. 9.
