DOHA (Qatar): 2012 London Olympic Games bronze medalist in skeet Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah along with two-time Olympian Rashid Saleh Hamad will begin their Tokyo Olympics quest at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Cairo tomorrow.
Besides Nasser, a six-time Olympian, two other trap shooters Saeed Abu Sharib and Mohammed Al Rumaihi are taking part in the event which will end on March 5.
Over 400 shooters from 31 countries are taking part in the tournament.
The event in Egypt along with the World Cup for Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun to be staged in New Delhi, India from March 18-29, are the twin events from which shooters can collect Olympic quota palces for the postponed Tokyo Games.
Among the four Qatari shooters now in Egypt, only Al Rumaihi has been able to bag the quota for the Games to be held in Tokyo this year.
Both Nasser and Rashid will be looking for a good show in Egypt, which begins today with a pre-event practice followed by the first three rounds on Wednesday and the next two rounds and the final round taking place on Thursday.
Rashid, who won gold in the shotgun event in Morocco early this month, will be looking forward to carry his impressive run in Egypt.
Rashid had been good form in the local competitions and won a gold and silver besides a fourth-place finish in the Amir Cup and Qatar Shooting Association Cup.
For 49-year-old Nasser, who has represented Qatar a record six times at the Games, will also make a strong case for the qualification for the multi discipline event in Japan.
Nasser, also a rally driver, has been in good form after winning a silver at the Qatar Shooting Association Cup held last month.
