DOHA (Qatar): The 8th Commercial Bank CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by Longines will be organized and hosted by Al Shaqab, from February 25-27.
On Sunday, the Social & Sport Contribution Fund (Daam) was named the Supporter of the premier global equestrian event.
Created in 2013, CHI Al SHAQAB is one of five CHI competitions worldwide, and the first and only equestrian event of its kind in the Middle-East and Asia region.
The three-day event will once again bring the world’s best riders and horses to Qatar to compete in the Olympic disciplines of Showjumping, Dressage, and Para Dressage.
The Daam and Al Shaqab have agreed to support the development of equestrian sports in Qatar, particularly among youths.
“I’m delighted to announce that Daam will be a supporter of Commercial Bank CHI Al SHAQAB. Equestrian sport truly represents Qataris, our tradition, and our culture, and this is reflected in the competitions and events undertaken by Al Shaqab,” said Abdulrahman bin Abdulatif Al Mannai, Chief Executive Officer, Social & Sport Contribution Fund.
Daam’s involvement is in line with its vision to make a positive difference in the community by supporting social and sports activities while enhancing sustainable social development in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV2030).
Part of Qatar’s strategy of economic diversification is to become a global hub for sport, and the promotion of the sports industry, under the guidance of Qatar Olympic Committee, now plays a major role in achieving the goals of QNV2030.
Khalifa Al Attiya, Vice-Chairman, Supreme Organizing Committee and Al Shaqab Executive Director said: “We are extremely pleased and honoured to welcome The Social & Sport Contribution Fund on board.
“We greatly value the organization’s commitment to the development of horsemanship in Qatar, particularly among youths. This level of support will play a great role in encouraging young riders, and ultimately keeping alive an invaluable part of Qatar’s history, culture and tradition.”
Qatar has already developed a strong track record of organizing and hosting international sporting events, starting with the 2006 Asian Games.
The designation of CHI (Concours Hippique International – International Equestrian Competition) is the official title awarded by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) to international equestrian competitions comprising three or more equestrian disciplines.
The three magic letters make all the difference in the prestigious equestrian world.
