DOHA (Qatar): The 2020 edition of Match Premier Cup will feature three top Russian Premier League (RPL) clubs Spartak Moscow, Lokomotiv Moscow and Rostov at the Aspire Academy from February 1 to 9.
Serbia’s Partizan Belgrade will be other side to compete in the competition.
The matches will be broadcast on Match TV and Match Premier as well as covered on their social networks and websites: matchtv.ru, matchpremier.ru and sportbox.ru.
Spartak coach praises Aspire facilities
The first team to arrive in Qatar for the tournament were Spartak Moscow whose manager, Domenico Tedesco praised the tournament and highlighted its importance.
“The facilities and conditions are very good here at Aspire Academy and the environment is great and we are really looking forward to playing our first match. The tournament is an important part of our preparation. When we go on the pitch we want to win, that’s for sure,” said Tedesco.
Tedesco was not in charge last year when Spartak Moscow won last year.
“It’s my first time here in Doha and l am impressed by what l have seen. My first impressions of the environment and conditions here for athletes are very good and offer a world of opportunities to excel in sport, Aspire is an impressive Academy that’s for sure.”
Spartak Moscow will include the likes of Andre Schurrle, Artyom Rebov, Jordan Larsson and Gus Til among the players.
The tournament falls during the winter break from most European league and clubs use the opportunity to fine tune for the resumption phase.
Tedesco added, “Spartak is a great club with a great history and ambitious goals in the future. We have a very young and ambitious that we want to develop it to its maximum. We are convinced that there is a lot of talent and potential in it.”
