DOHA (Qatar): The Qatar Cricket Association has invited Nepal to play a three-match T20I series as part of the Qatar National Sport Day (NSD) celebrations, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) said on Tuesday after a board meeting.
The first match will be on February 9, Qatar’s National Sport Day while the next two matches will take place on February 10 and 12. The last two matches will start at 1pm while the first match will begin at 11am at Asian Town Cricket Stadium.
Qatar and Nepal met in a T20I game during the T20 World Cup Asia Regional finals held in Singapore in July 2019, with Qatar registering their maiden win over their regional heavyweights in the Associate landscape in the region.
The CAN has also decided to start a closed training camp from February 1 for the Qatar tournament and will be the first one since renowned coach Dave Whatmore took over as coach of the Nepal team.
Some of the members will already be in action prior to the tour, with the likes of Karan KC, Sompal Kami and Kushal Malla involved in Abu Dhabi T10 tournament in UAE, while Sandeep Lamichhane involved in the Big Bash League in Australia.
While Nepal’s players have been playing 50-overs cricket at home in the PM ODI Cup, Qatar players took part in the T10 tournament held during Qatar’s National Day celebrations in December.
