Zurich: FIFA has confirmed that Ukrainian professional players in Russian and Ukrainian clubs can move to foreign clubs, explaining that local players who managed to leave the country can sign for another club even if the window for this is closed.
FIFA expanded the effects of the exceptional decision it issued last week to allow foreign players and coaches to unilaterally terminate their contracts with Ukrainian and Russian clubs so that they can join other clubs abroad due to the Russian military escalation in Ukraine but added that not every club will have the right.
To include more than one player who is covered by this exceptional exemption, detailed in an appendix to the Regulations on the Status of Players Affected by the Consequences of the Military Escalation in Ukraine.
FIFA stated that these foreign players will have the right to unilaterally terminate their contracts before June 30 so that they can participate in other tournaments starting from the 7 April at the latest, although the period is outside the official transfer period.
